cannot enter password into ipod touch 5th generation

I bought an ipod touch 5th generation on ebay. I've restored it to its factory settings and its asking me: please enter your credentials to authenticate your device. What are these? I never entered any credentials. I tried my itunes account and that will not work. I cannot advance to the next page of the startup and consequently cannot use the ipod.

These words "please enter your credentials to authenticate your device." sounds like the iPod was used in a business environment and one must enter the "credentials" specified by the business.

I would:

-Try DFU mode and then restore to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If same message I would return for a refund. Did the eBay page for this iPOd saying anything that would shed light on previous use or any other information that might help
