Q: Eye Strain - New Macbook

Hi

I picked up a new Macbook 12" this week. Once home, setting it up, i started to get really bad eye strain. Turned it off and picked it up again the next day, but same issue, after only a few minutes I can feel my eyes getting really tied and feeling dry / funny.

I know it's not my glasses or vision as I have used and still use a MBP non retina for years, plus use a dual screen set up at work during the day. I also use an iPad air 2 in all my meetings, again without issue.

I saw lots of discussion about eye strain for early retina MacBooks pro etc, but not sure about a lot recently. I have tried changing resolution, I,Flow and smoothing setting as suggested in the older posts. Still not good, a bit bette maybe but still an issue.

After any suggestions on if this can be resolved or will I need to exchange for a Macbook Air non retina, which would be a real shame.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Check the various options at System Preferences > Accessibility > Display.  Perhaps one or more options there will help you.

If not, an exchange is a good idea.

I know many people that have their System Preferences > Display > Color, set to Color LCD Warm. I use it as well and find it much easier on my eyes.

I know others that prefer a program called Flux that basically provides the same function, but it is designed to remove the "blue light" that emits from your computer, much like a television will do in the evening.

I'd recommend trying both of those things and seeing if either help.

Flux can be found at: ********

    Good luck!
