Q: Macbook locked via Find My iPhone but it was not me

Hi all,

My Macbook has been locked via find my iPhone, but it was not me. I received this email

D**** F******’s MacBook has been locked.
This Mac was locked at 11:45 AM PDT on September 7, 2016. If you retrieve your Mac, unlock it using the passcode you created at the time you locked it.
Use Find My iPhone on an iOS device or visit icloud.com/find on a Mac or PC to take additional action.

And when I turn on my Mac, there`s a screen with only six squares and a text saying a i have to enter my PIN. It also says "Your Mac locked. For unlock write f****le****@yahoo.com".

I wrote to this e-mail but it`s no more a valid email.

What happened when you visited http://www.icloud.com/find?

It certainly sounds like your login information has been compromised.  Someone got your username/password and absconded with your machine.  If you cannot resolve the issue at http://www.icloud.com/find, you should contact the authorities.

If you were not the one who locked it, then your iCloud account has been compromised.

First, change your iCloud/Apple ID password.

Second, and this is the unfortunate part. If you cannot unlock it via FindMyMac on iCloud or within the FindMyiPhone lock, the drive will have to be erased in order to get the machine back up and running. To do this - because the machine is locked - you will have to take it to a Genius bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider. They will then have to physically remove the drive from the machine, erase it and put a new operating system on it for you.

Sorry that you have to go through this, but it is due to Apple's security measures.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Good luck!
