Cell phones are not meant to be connected via Bluetooth to a computer.
I know I'm a little late getting into the conversation, but Apple, is it true that you cannot connect iPhones via Bluetooth to an iMac. Before going to an iPhone I connected my other phones via Bluetooth to my iMac. I have tried to connect both my 5s and my wife's 6 to the iMac. My 5s says that the iMac is not supported and the 6 just never talks to the iMac (pairing event). Both phones have IOs 10.
I suggest next time that you start a new thread (better responses).
That connectivity is not supported except for tethering. If you want to transfer data use Airdrop.

Apple is not here. This is a user to user forum, we are just users like yourself.

Yes. There is no supported profile to pair an iPhone to a Mac or any computer except for internet sharing from the iPhone. Personal Hotspot needs to be turned on on the iPhone before they will pair.
Beyond that all other tasks between a Mac and an iPhone that require bluetooth do not require them being paired.
What exactly are you attempting to accomplish by pairing them?
