lightning cable

Hi,
I bought a new lightning cable for my iPhone 5 this week in the apple store. I received the package on thursday. I know my battery is not doing well and the iPhone is out of battery quite often. But this time it's been plugged for more than 36hours and was still turned off.
I tried an old cable this morning and the iPhone turned on immediately. What can I do to change my new cable without fees ? It's brand new.

iPhone 5, iOS 9.3.5

Return it to the Apple store if you think it doesn't work, review the receipt for returns procedures to the online Apple store.

I many countries you have 14 days to return most goods (without questions) & even longer if they are faulty & fail under 1 year after purchase. I'd suggest you take your iOS device to an Apple store to be checked - it could be malfunctioning if the new cable isn't faulty.
