Q: iMovie - Photos need explanation

HI all,

im hoping someone can explain the behaviour of the photos within Imovie...

i Have a Macbook Pro  and I have created an album on photos called holiday and imported 1500 of my photos/videos . My Mac is set to save full versions.

ive then gone into iMovie (on mac) to create a movie of my holiday, however when i go into my album "holiday" it only sees 500 or so. Why is this? I thought that it read the photos/videos from my mac hard drive is this not the case?  Is It because iphotos hasn't uploaded all the photos and movies to iCloud yet? i assumed that because I imported them into photos on my mac and I can see all photos they would all automatically appear in iMovie to be used.

i hope i make sense , I basically want to see all movies/photos from iPhoto's album in my iMovie album.

thanks in advance

Album?  Do you mean you created a Photos Library called "holiday"?

iMovie should be showing you all photos in your System Photo Library.

Is the Holiday Photos Library enabled as your System Photo Library in the Photos Preferences > General?  "Use as System Photo Library" should be grayed out.

After importing the photos, the Photos.app will need some time to create previews for the Media Browser. You may simply have to keep Photos running a little bit longer wile you are not using it, to finish rendering the previews.

Brilliant thank you, it just needed time as you said, probably because of the amount of photos imported.

    Thanks again.
