Q: Can upgrade a macbook pro logic board?

I own a macbook pro 15" retina (mid 2015) 2.2GHz with intel Iris graphics. I now regret not getting the AMD graphics and was wondering if the two cards (the one with intel graphics and the one with both intel and AMD) are intercompatible ? If so would apple be able to sell me a new logic board and install it for me ?

Bruno

P.S. I search google and found plenty of "can I upgrade the graphics chip" -> no I can't, but I didn't find anything about the whole logic board .

First, understand we are all end-users like you and not Apple employees, so what I say is based on experience from visiting Apple Stores and reading reports of similar requests in these forums, not from having special knowlege of Apple service policies.

You can ask at an Apple Store about such an upgrade but their policy seems to have always been "replace in kind." meaning they will put in the same board you have now but not a uprated one. That wouldn't help. If you bought the MBP within the last 14 days directly from Apple you can return the computer "no-questions-asked" for a refund of upgrade to a more powerful version. If you bought from a third-pary reseller, that option may not be available.

If you are no longer in the 14-day grace period then your only real option is to sell the one you have now and apply the proceeds to a new one with the options you need.

If you decide on selling, please read this first to have a "clean" transfer of ownership:
