Q: Cannot load 60% of webpages
I am running El Capitan 10.11.3 on an iMac 21.5" (late 2009)
the following is true on browsers Chrome (52.0.27), Firefox (45.0.2), and Safari (9.0.3):
- browser will not open 60% of attempted websites, examples include NYtimes, google scholar, chase, jadefitnessdc, myfitnesspal, latimes
- sites that do load include:
- probublica, discussions.apple, google search, myhealth.va, soundcloud
As you can see there doesn't appear to be rhyme or reason to which sites load and which do not.
I've have not made any upgrades to my OS, installed any updates, nor any new software. Suddenly the problem began two weeks ago (around 9/20/16):
Firefox's error reads:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at chase.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Chrome's reads:
This site can’t be reached
- chase.com refused to connect.
Safari reads:
Safari can't connect to the server. Safari can't open the page Netflix because Safari can't connect to the Netflix's server
Any ideas?
