Q: Live photo showing 2 different files in photos app on mac!!

Hi,

I recently imported photos from my iphone to my Mac using photos app for OSX. But after getting succesfully imported it is showing me two different items i.e. photo itself & a short video. So for my 300 live photos it is showing me 300 photos & 300 videos.

So why is it showing two diffrent file, i assume it should show single live photo as it shows on my iPhone.

I also tried repairing the library by command opening the photos app but it did not work. Please help!

Thanks

Amar

A live photo is two files, a photo and a video - that is what it is

where are you seeing the two files?

If you really have OS X 10.10.1 and Photos 1.0 as you state then that is the problem - you are eleven or twelve updates behind and those updates included Live Photo support - you need to upgrade to El Captain OS X 10.11.6 and Photos 1.5

In photos app other than showing one photo (Live photo) it is showing me two seperate file i.e. 1photo & 1 video. And i assume it should show only 1file.

Currently only iCloud Photo Library is transferring the Live Photos as a lIve Photo.  My Photo Stream will only transfer the JPEG as a still image, and Image Capture and the direct import by USB will split the Live Photo into its components.

macOS Sierra and iOS 10 will bring improved support for Live Photos; hopefully the importing will be easier with the next system versions.
