Q: Sound System Preference and Callnote

I installed Callnote to record Skype sessions but I found that it was interfering with the system audio so I uninstalled it using AppCleaner. However, I still have a remnant of Callnote in the input and output device windows of Sound System Preferences: how do I get rid of it?

Also (in the spirit of BOGOF - buy one get one free), it is irritating that my Startup at logon of Safari starts it up but doesn't show a window - I always have to click on the Safari icon in the Dock. This started to happen with Yosemite, I think; before that a window automatically appeared. I presume it doesn't show because "Hide Safari" is an unalterable permanent selection in the Safari drop down menu, but why is this so when no other application has this permanently selected?

Don't know about the first part, but for Safari, try going to System Preferences/General and uncheck Close windows when quitting an app.

Thanks Eric. Your suggestion is a solution to the problem of automatically getting a Safari window at startup. Your suggested remedy seems to open a window with the last website at last closure. But if it was behaving as it should then I'd get an initial window with Top Sites. Your suggestion is a workaround but it doesn't solve the basic problem of why "Hide Safari", in the Safari drop down menu, is greyed out - which is probably why Safari doesn't open a window at startup (without your suggested remedy).

I have Safari 9.1.3 and OS X 10.11.6, though, as I said before, this problem at least cropped up with Yosemite. Do you get a Safari window at startup without your suggested preference being unticked? Do you have "Hide Safari" greyed out in the Safari application drop down menu?
