Q: the disk is locked and cannot be written

I have been importing my entire CD collection to my iTunes (is has taken weeks). I am halfway through my collection and today when I tried starting my next pile of CD's, every CD I put in say "Error occurred while converting the file 'title track'. The disk is locked and cannot be written"

I have tried looking this problem up online, and have tried to follow the MULTIPLE possible solutions to it and have no success. If it's a permission problem, when I try changing the permissions, the most common response I get "An error has occurred...The media is write protected".

This just happened literally from one day it was working fine, and the next morning it wasn't. I did NO updates, or changes to the system/network.

I'm running a PC with windows 10. The destination for my iTunes is an external hard drive that isn't even half full. It has been working fine until now. PLEASE someone tell me how to fix this problem. I AM NOT A COMPUTER PROGRAMER. Tell me how to fix it like I'm a total idiot please.
