Q: Will the courrent Apple Watch be identified as Watch Series 1?

I bought my Watch a few days before the presentation of the new ones, and I was wondering if it wil be identified as Watch Series 1 or it won't receive other software update. So, will it be identified as series 1 or should I change it with the "new" series 1?

Apple Watch, watchOS 2.2.2

Existing Apple Watches will receive the update to watchOS 3. Whether or not you decide you want to spend the money on a new Apple Watch (whichever version) is something only you can decide, based on your needs and budget.

The original  Watch will always be just that. If you purchased an  Watch before the new versions were announced I suspect you will receive the original  Watch.

The Series 1  Watch has a faster processor than the original  Watch.

The Series 2  Watch is the latest and greatest that was demoed during the Apple Event last Wednesday.

You have 14 days to rerun your product. If you think it would be better to order a newer version of the  Watch I suggest you return your  Watch and order one of the newer models.

I agree with Meg that all three versions of the  Watch will be updatable to WatchOS 3.
