Q: Why can't I control the volume of Bluetooth speakers with Apple TV?

My Apple TV successfully makes a connection to the speaker but volume adjustment doesn't work. I'm looking to use the Apple TV's remote to control volume while watching TV so I  don't have to get up every time I need to adjust the volume.

Apple TV (4th generation)

tvOS 9.2.2

Bose Sound Link Mini ii

Firmware Version 1.1.4

I've tried/noted:

- Connection to the speaker works fine and sound is clear

- I am able to adjust the sound with the buttons on the speaker

- Pop up volume dialog on Apple TV is labeled "Bose Mini II Soundlink" after pairing

- Reducing volume to zero bars on the apple TV cuts sound to the speaker

- Macbook (OSX El Capitan) connects and is able to adjust the volume without issue - which suggests it's not an issue with the speaker

- iPhone (IOS 9.3.5) connects and is able to adjust the volume without issue - which suggests it's not an issue with the speaker

- Apple Support: No record of the issue yet a senior advisor assured me it was an issue with the speaker (Case ID: 100019700012)

- Re-pairing the device doesn't resolve the issue

- Factory reset of the speaker doesn't resolve the issue
