6 months ago, I found my daughter was using her mac notebook for distracting reasons and I decided to setup parental controls. I used a specific password to do that on her notebook. She has since learned her lesson and now needs some access for school. I forgot the password. How can I reset ?

Are you saying that you forgot all the administrative accounts passwords for the Mac?
All you have to do is to go to System Preferences>Parental Controls and click on the padlock in lower left and enter admin user and password and then click on the gear in the lower left and turn off Parental Controls for the selected user
Yes.. I forgot all the admin passwords.. therefore, I can't follow your advice.
Assuming Lion or later:
Reset the user password in OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Yosemite
The notebook has OSX Yosemite.. and it looks like that article was for "user" passwords and note "admin". It could be instructions for both, but I have a different OS than listed in that instruction.

That works for admin account since that is also a user. As I said, it apples for Lion and later.
