Q: Issues loading old library on external hd to new iTunes
Question. I recently reformatted and upgraded my pc to Windows 10, and I used an older version of iTunes (not sure which one it was) at the time compared to what is currently available. I used to keep all of my music stored (through iTunes) on a different internal hard drive which still exists on my computer. Windows recognizes it, and iTunes was managing the folders.
The problem is that I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, and while it did load what I had on iCloud, I have a feeling I am missing some items that were in the hard drive library. I tried to start up iTunes holding shift to select a different library however the folder that iTunes was managing did not have any info. The only things listed on the external's folder are:
-Automatically Add to iTunes
-Books
-iPod Games
-Mobile Applications
-Movies
-Music
-Voice Memos
-.iTunes Preferences.plist
I did my best to back everything up on my primary C: so I may have additional folders, however I don't know if that's where the actual library file for loading into iTunes was, or if this is a new feature released in a more current version. I used to keep everything fully up to date until I changed over to my now broken Samsung Galaxy S6 phone (about a year ago) which I am giving up and going back to iPhones. My last being a 5s, my new one being a 7 when it's shipped to me.
What is the easiest way I can make sure the whole library is loaded into iTunes without causing cloud conflicts/duplicates/or a VERY long process of re-copying thousands of songs?
Windows 10
