Q: Message pops up in iTunes ipod appears to have corrputed files.

When I plug my ipod classic 120g into my desktop windows 10computer a message pops up that my drive "j:" needs to be formatted followed by a message in iTunes that my ipod appears to have corrupted files. I do a factory reset doesn't help.

However I have windows 10 on my laptop and everything works fine there. I would keep just using my laptop, but I have a small (320g) hard drive and it is full (I use this laptop for MANY things.

This issue with my desktop/ipod only started about 3-4 months ago.

I sure hope someone can help me figure this out.

Regards,

Louise

Could you have had a previous sync interrupted? That's my first thought...

Until someone else comes along with a different/better take on this, have you tried using your computer to scan your iPod for disk errors? If not, and you want to try that, just make sure you set iTunes to NOT automatically sync whenever you plug the iPod in, otherwise you won't be able to scan due to the drive (your iPod) being used in another program that's running. (To set up for non-automatic sync, in iTunes, here is the path: edit -> prefernces -> "devices" tab -> check "prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically") There's a possibility, though slight, that your computer might be able to repair disk errors to the point of usability, should there be disk errors on your device.

However, I'll gladly defer to the experts here who have a more definitive take...
