Q: How do i back up by iPad 3 when the screen is black and you can't see anything?

How do I back up my iPad 3 in ITunes or iCloud when the screen is black and you can't see anything?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 9.3.5

Is the screen blank because just the screen is broken, or is the whole iPad dead ? Have you tried a soft-reset/reboot of it ?

 

Unless you can see what you are touching on the iPad's screen you can't force an iCloud backup.

 

If the iPad is still working, and is connected to wifi, an iCloud backup should automatically happen (if iCloud backups are enabled) if it's plugged in and the screen locked.
