Q: Scaled display and resolution confusion

Hi all,

I have a MacBook Pro with retina display - the MGXC2LL/A 15.4", NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB), and it's currently running 10.10.5 (14F27). The screen resolution is supposed to be 1920x1080, (actually the Display section in the "About this Mac" tells me "15.4-inch (2880 x 1800)" but the "Default" screen size is 1440x900, or "looks like [1440x900]", rather. Further, it seems that the only two option I have to change the resolution is"Default for Display" and "Scaled".

I'm in After Effects CC (13.8.1.38) in 1920x1080. If my display resolution is set to 1920x1080 ("scaled"), I'm able to see the whole shot in my composition when the zoom level in AE is 100% - which is strange considering the size of the video frame should be just as large as the computer screen itself. When exporting with full resolution and full quality, the shot fills the screen perfectly. If I set display resolution to 1440x900 ("default") AE now shows the shot to where I need to pan around (like I would expect), but now when I export, the shot needs to be scaled down to fit the screen.

Any thoughts on this?
