HDD Erased?

I`ve been trying to fix a Mid-2007 Macbook. The problem is somehow the HDD was wiped. So when I boot I go into recovery mode. Over that time I made a new apple account (btw, I couldn`t connect to the App Store anyway.). Also I have no recovery disks. So thats why i went to do lunix. With Ubuntu, I would be able to use it to it`s fullest extent. But since the optical drive was ded. And I had no luck with usb either. So I need help! And also tell me if it is possible to install windows xp from here. And thanks in advance. -Alex
