Two versions of safari on one system?

I am not asking to have two versions os Safari operating at the same time, rather to have two differing versions installed and operational at separate times.

I am presently running the most up to date version os Safari at v9.1.3 (11601.7.8), but in this new version Apple changed the way developers can develop and modify extensions, so one of my extensions is now broken forever. I would like therefore to use the previous version of Safari in order to access that extension, so that would be v9.1.2.

I am aware of Michel Fortin's Multi-Safari, but that peaked at v8 and there's no good going back that far. I know that Safari development will march on, but the extension was a beauty and I'd like to keep using it, it's that useful.

What would be the solution?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 16GB RAM, late 2011
