MacOS X 10.5.8 update integrity

I want to update an iBook G4 to latest supported MacOS X, which is 10.5.8.

There is a security advisory about the update here: https://lists.apple.com/archives/security-announce/2009/Aug/msg00001.html, it tells us the update image MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg sha1 sum should be 6a3a744626503a807dd0158c41d0350aa37fe6c7.

Problem is: the file downloaded from Apple website features a different sha1 sum. I tried downloading multiple times and I still get the same unexpected sha1 sum. Since it is impossible to download the file through https://, it casts some doubts on file integrity. How can I trust this updater?

While there, same question for Xcode 3.1.1, which is the last Xcode for this machine. The download cannot be done through https:// and I cannot even find an Apple published sha1 sum for the file (xcode311_9m2517_developerdvd.dmg). How can I check integrity?

The security advisory APPLE-SA-2009-08-05-1 lists several files with the sha1:

https://lists.apple.com/archives/security-announce/2009/Aug/msg00001.html

I am talking about this one:

For Mac OS X v10.5 - v10.5.6

The download file is named: MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg

Its SHA-1 digest is: 6a3a744626503a807dd0158c41d0350aa37fe6c7

I found the combo update here:

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL866

This links to:

http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL866/en_US/MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg

And I get:

SHA1(MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg)= 0a5a83d42eaafb79388287c2051ea66ecf65989f

The iBook already runs Mac OS X 10.5 (9A581)

Apple changed the download locations of many updates in 2011.

Download Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update

Is the current location for the 10.5.8 combo Update, which should include all security updates up through August 12, 2009.

Unfortunately Apple has a smattering of 10.5.8 updates that are PowerPC, with only one that is Intel only:

You will have to look at:

Apple security updates (2011 to 2012) - Apple Support

Apple security updates (2010) - Apple Support

For any 10.5.8 update that does not say Intel that refers to software you use.

Then Google the name of the update followed by support.apple.com/DL

https://www.google.com/#q=Apple+security+update+support.apple.com%2FDL

Editing the above search.
