Q: Touch ID performance deteriorates over time
Touch ID on my iPhone 6S has stopped working 95% of the time 6 months after the purchase.
A bit of background here. Touch ID on my previous iPhone 5S almost never worked for me. My hands sweat easily so I figured it has to do with the liquid interfering with the sensor. However, when I first got the 6S, the Touch ID worked almost perfectly for the first few months. I understand that Apple has made changes to the hardware so that seemed to have solved the problem. However, it now has stopped working 95% of the time.
I have tried cleaning it with lint-free fabric as suggested by Apple on the website, but this did not help. I have also tried rubbing alcohol.
Anyone experiencing the same problem because of sweat? Does anyone have a long-term solution to this? I notice that I can make the Touch ID works temporarily by carefully cleaning the censor and my hand. But this never lasts more than an hour of use or so.
Appreciate any comments and suggestions. Thank you!
