Q: Touch Screen Not Working (mostly)
I have an iPhone 6+ that I've had for around a year. It's current with it's IOS (9.3.5).
Yesterday, out of the blue, the touch screen stopped working completely. Here's what happens now:
- I hard reboot the phone.
- When it boots, I use the thumb to activate, and it asks for my PIN.
- Usually, the screen is completely unresponsive.
- I tap all over the screen like a maniac, and maybe 1/5 times - the screen starts working. (the other times I reboot)
- From there, the phone works fine. I can touch anywhere, do anything. Maybe for minutes, maybe for an hour.
- Then it goes unresponsive again, and this whole cycle starts over.
Having read a little, I decided that I should do a factory reset and restore. I did that, and it took hours on a slow connection, but seemed to work fine. I left it over night to reload all of the apps.
This morning it was working fine, and I was tweaking the settings that didn't save (like text size), and boom - the screen went unresponsive again (you saw that coming, didn't you?).
So - any clues what's going on here? The times when it is working show me that the physical touch sensors seem to be working fine. I've searched around on this a LOT, and haven't seen this exact problem described, and haven't seen any solution beyond what I've already done.
Earliest Genius appointment I could get is three days out, so any help in the interim will be welcome - thanks in advance!
