Q: Mavericks Recovery failing

Hi all,

After significant problems with my music studio running on a 2014 27" iMac 3.4ghz 32Gb RAM on El Capitan with Logic Pro X and using UAD Apollo interfaces, I have had to completely reinstall my OS X in internet recovery mode, going back to Mavericks that it came with.

I erased the hard disk and went for a reinstall of Mavericks, which all went fine. It had a running time of app. 3 hours, wherefore I left the computer to do some things. Coming back to it app. 2.5 hours later, the screen is black, the system is unresponsive, yet I can hear the computer is still on. The recovery mode said it would automatically restart the computer when done. So, I don't know what to do now. Shut down the comp by holding power button for 10 secs? Wait for a few hours to see what happens? If I shut it down, will it reboot to no OS?

My studio, and hence my work, is effectively shut down because of this, so I'm getting a little desperate.

Many thanks for any thoughts and ideas.

Christopher
