Q: 'merge recording' while looping (in GB ioS) misses the first bar
I'm using Garageband for iOS on my iPhone 6 (ios 9.3.5).
i make a new song and just use the default 8bars.
I make an easy drum beat on track1, then create a track2 for a 'strings' part.
I turn on the 'merge' option for the strings track, i want to record the strings part
while the drum beat is still playing (think 'live performance').
So, i hit 'record' for string part on , say, the 6 or 7th measure so that i can come in
with the strings on bar1 of the next cycle thru.
All sounds well as i play, however, when i finish the 8bars and it starts over
the first bar (or two) won't have anything recorded.
Does anyone know a 'fix' for this? Thanks.

The first bar (or two bars) missing sounds like you might have a count-in enabled for the metronome. (GarageBand for iOS 2.0.x (iPhone, iPod touch): Change song settings)
Change the metronome settings
GarageBand has a metronome to help you play and record in time. The metronome includes a count-in that plays four beats before recording starts to help you get ready. You can turn the metronome or the count-in on or off anytime while you are working, and change the sound of the metronome.
- Open the song settings.
- To turn the metronome on or off, tap the Metronome switch.
- To turn the count-in on or off, tap the Count In switch.
- To change the sound for the metronome, tap Sound, then choose a new metronome sound.
