Q: My iPhone won't turn on and soft reset doesn't work.

I have an iPhone 6s that I got in November and I've taken very good care of it. I haven't dropped it recently or anything like that. Once in a while (like once a month or so) it just shuts off and won't turn on until I hold the power and home button for 30 seconds. Then, it usually turns on and is just fine. I haven't updated my iPhone yet because I haven't had the time when I do get the time, I kinda just don't feel like it. So, yeah, I've been putting off this update for months. This time, my phone was at 35% and the whole screen faded black into the middle until it was a little green pixel and then just shut off. No matter how many times I've plugged it in and unplugged it, soft reset it, and plugged it into my computer, it won't turn on. Once when I plugged it into my MacBook, it told me the iPhone wasn't working properly due to an update not being installed on it. Then it gave me two options; either update it from my computer, or restore it. I chose the update of course. While it was downloading the update onto my computer, my internet crashed due to a storm and now it won't let me update. I just keep getting the same message telling me I need to enter my passcode on my iPhone before I can make changes, which is obviously something I can't do. iCloud scares and confuses me so I haven't set it up yet and now I'm scared that I'll have to restore it and lose all of my photos. (concert photos and videos, photos of families and pets who have recently passed, etc.) I'm just kinda spooked about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Try Recovery Mode:

Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.

While your device is connected, force restart it: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, and don't release when you see the Apple logo.

Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen and wait for it to restore.

You may have to do the above more than once as recovery mode is difficult to get into.

Restore as New first and test it. Then restore from backup to get your data and pictures back. If the backup is corrupted, it will not work, sorry.
