Sep 11, 2016 11:55 AM in response to UncleMookieby Tesserax,What exact models are each of your base stations? How about the modem? Is the connection between the Extreme and the Express, wired or wireless? Is the Express configured to extend the Extreme or just to join it as a wireless client for the purpose of streaming?

Sep 11, 2016 12:13 PM in response to Tesseraxby UncleMookie,Connection is wireless, modem is the "latest" Comcast, Express config'd as both wireless client and music streamer, both of which have worked seamlessly until recently.
2nd Gen Extreme - no Time Capsule. Prolly two years old. Again, working flawless up until now (if it IS contributing to the problem).

Sep 11, 2016 12:21 PM in response to UncleMookieby Tesserax,Sorry, but "latest" Comcast doesn't really help as Comcast provides numerous modems or gateways for their service. Although the modem is the least likely culprit in this scenario.
Also I still would like to know the model of your Express base station. If you are saying that its two years old, then I will assume you have the most currently available model, a 2nd generation 802.11n.
Where is the Express located in relation to the Extreme ... same room, different room, or different floor? What are you using for the streaming source? Where is that source located typically when streaming ... again in relation to the Extreme?

Sep 11, 2016 12:36 PM in response to Tesseraxby UncleMookie,No, I'M sorry. Of course you're right...Voice and Data Modem ARRIS Group, Inc. tg1682g. Is that what you're looking for? There's an s-ton of numbers on it.
Yes, it's the 2nd generation 802.11n
The Express is in a different room, quite a distance away BUT that hasn't changed, so I haven't concentrated upon that in this cause analysis.

Sep 11, 2016 12:48 PM in response to UncleMookieby Tesserax,Thanks for the updated information. Yes, that was exactly what I needed. The Arris TG1682G is not a simple modem, but actually a combination modem and wireless router. Also known as a gateway device.
Since you have multiple routers, I am going to assume the following. Please correct me where I missed something:
- The AirPort Extreme is connected back to the Arris by Ethernet.
- The AirPort Express is connected by wireless.
- The Express is configured as a wireless client for the purpose of AirPlay streaming.
In all of the above is correct, how do you have the Extreme configured? That is, do you have the Extreme and the Arris configured for a roaming network? ... and then, the Express is configured to join this network? Finally, since the Express is in a different room, what is the basic building construction material used in the walls? Plaster, concrete, or something else if you know?
I'm asking these questions to best understand how your current network is set up so I can help explain how AirPlay streams travel from the iTunes host to the AirPlay "speakers." This way we can both understand why you are having streaming issues.

Sep 11, 2016 10:27 PM in response to Tesseraxby UncleMookie,We were chasing ghosts. I stick my headphones into the output jack and nothing...but I have plenty of Internet throughput. Other speakers, too just to further corroborate.
Looks like a bum port...
