Q: corrupted email

I have a corrupted email, that can’t be sent, that is causing my Mail program to crash immediately after opening. Where on my iMac computer hard drive are my email files stored?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

    Hello Roxie80,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important getting your email to work is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to open or use Mail on your Mac as you get a message that you have a corrupted email. If you can, try going to the web portal of the email account and see if you can remove the email from there. Otherwise, you can try these steps to resolve your issue and get Mail working on your Mac again!

    1. First, try restarting your Mac, and then hold the Shift key when opening Mail again, as this temporarily prevents an app from re-opening its documents and windows.

How to turn on or turn off your Mac
Automatically re-open windows, apps, and documents on your Mac

    2. Next use "safe mode" to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Then log into your user account and test Mail again. If your issue is resolved, then restart your Mac normally and test the issue again.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

    Cheers!

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/Mail/V3. The e-mail should be in there.
