Q: not showing anywhere

I have two iPod nano's (1 for personal use, which works fine, and a second for uni)

The nano I use for personal use connects fine to my pc and into iTunes and so on.

But my second, a 2nd generation nano, won't connect at all to my pc.  It had done so before (last weekend in fact) without issue.

It won't show up in device manager, in my computer, not even iTunes.

I am baffled because one ipod is fine and the other just won't connect at all, all it is doing is having its battery charged.

I use Windows 10, I have the latest iTunes, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes already.  What else can I do or try?

A 2nd gen iPod nano is old, so its dock connector may be worn out and no longer connecting for data, although the "pins" for power seem to still connect.

Since the other one connects properly, iTunes appears to be fine.  The docking cable (assuming you use same one for both) appears to be fine.  If your personal iPod nano is 7th gen (uses different type of docking cable), the old docking cable you use with 2nd gen iPod nano may be what's faulty.  If possible, use a different (newer) docking cable to confirm docking cable is not faulty.

If you have other USB devices (especially USB storage devices) connected at the same time, try connect iPod to a direct USB port by itself.  Try more than one port.

If you have not already since this problem started, shut down (power off) computer.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Then start it up, run iTunes, and try it again.
