Will there be a male 3.5mm to Lightning adapter to use my new lightning headphones?

I know with the new iPhone 7 coming out with the new Lightning port to use as audio and I am completely cool with. I love the change. The only issue is that I want to be able to use those Included headphones with my Macbook Air. And I know that there is the $9 Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone jack Adapter. But I was wondering if there will be an adapter in the reverse....

What you say unfortunately makes sense. But this also points to Apple's failure to think this through. As a user with a MacBook Pro and iPhone 7 I now need to have two pairs of headphones at all times to use with my devices? Apple's answer: Just buy $150 ear pods does not seem like a great solution. Maybe a lightening to USB adapter? The Macbook Pro supports digital out through the 3.5mm headphone jack. Is there an adapter for that?

I recently encountered this issue as well and I think I may have a simpler solution. Using Apple adapter

Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter - Apple (CA) and then any male to male 3.5mm cable...that should do the trick. But I haven't tried it yet. Will see how it goes.

I have not purchased the items to test this yet, but through a series of adapters I may have figured out a solution. There are adapters like this: http://www.rakuten.com/prod/rsigear-usb-c-to-8-pin-lightning-female-adapter-conv erter-charger-for/292972774.html?listing… available to change Lightning to USB C, then you need to change the USB C male to USB male: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/162061388785?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true, and then you can change the USB to male 3.5mm: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAAZM45N7261&ignorebbr=1&nm_m c=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Car+Amplifier+%26+Speaker+Ins tallation-_-9SIAAZM45N7261&gclid=CjwKEAiAz4XFBRCW87vj6-28uFMSJAAHeGZb6EBPJpxlVnN PLwlfphFkf8xH_IlXhDSpFNCx0bfQWBoCX4_w_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds.

Hope this helps, and if you go through with it let me know if it works out!

Adam218 is looking for a 3.5 mm jack to female lightning adaptor. Your link points to a 3.5 mm jack to male lightning adaptor.

So far these are only available from a 3rd party and not Apple directly (don't know why).

I have found no adapters for this from any manufacturer at all. If you know of any a link would be helpful.

However the general reason is that going from analog audio output (3.5mm jack) to a digital audio(lighting female) requires power, and lots of circuitry, which would make any adapter a large bulky affair with a substantial price tag.

And unless people only own the headphones that come with the iPhone 7 or later, they already have other headphones they can use with their computer, and other audio systems. There's really very little point, when the solution is simply to use other headphones. Cheap and fast.

I know the question may be a bit confusing. However, if you read the question you'll notice that Adam is aware of the adapter you provided a link to. I believe he is actually asking if there will be an adapter to allow for the lightning male on the headphones to plug into and convert it to an audio male so that it can be used with the Macbook Air or other devices that utilize regular audio ports instead of lighting ports.

For technical reasons, I doubt it. Lightning passes through a digital signal. The earbuds, and the included adapter, contain a DAC to convert that signal to analog. A male 3.5mm to Lightning would need to contain an ADC to convert the 3.5mm analog signal back to digital for your Lightning earbuds to convert it back to analog. Your audio file would need to go through a DAC-ADC-DAC sequence. never good for sound quality.

Will there be a male 3.5mm to Lightning adapter to use my new lightning headphones?
