Q: 2011 15" Macbook pro lower ram slot doesnt work. 3 beeps everytime I start my Mac.
Hey Guys,
So Ive come across this weird issue with my mac. So I was using the Mac at work for like 4 hours continuously and then when it was time to go home, I simply put the screen down and put the Mac to sleep. When I re-opened the Mac at home, it started with the 3 beeps and it wouldnt start.
So after panicking for like half an hour, I decided to take google up on this question. I found many queries but nothing similar to mine. So I opened the back panel of the Macbook, removed both rams and re-seated them (as one of the posts on google said to do) twice but it still did not work. I took off the bottom ram and tried turning it on with a single top ram and it worked.
A bit of history, Apple had this quality control program where any 2011 Macbook pros affected by a faulty video card can have their logic boards changed for free by taking it in to apple. My macbook was one of them and the apple genius guys changed the logic board. Long and behold after six months the lower ram bank slot stopped working. My question is, do i have any recourse with apple since its only been six months, and if i order a new logic board from them, what are the chances that this will not happen again?
Any past experiences you guys could share to help me would be greatly appreciated.

SO I took your advice and called up Apple's customer relations and spoke with a nice guy who said that they will make an exception for my case. They were super helpful and gave me a new logic board to replace my current one but I have to pay for labour.
All in all, YMMV, but dealing with Apple's customer service is always a good experience for me.
