Q: WiFi
Hi,
My question regards Wifi signal strength.
We have an iMac, MacBook, two iPhone 5s and a Canon MF6160dw Printer/scanner. We located our ISP-provided Comtrend AR-5381u wireless modem/router as centrally as possible in the house. It has an Airport Express attached via ethernet cable as a range extender to an adjacent building.
Our Apple devices get full or sufficient signal strength wherever we are in the house.
The MF6160dw is another story. Otherwise a great machine, its wireless capabilities are anything but awe-inspiring. It had issues even when the Express was right next to it. We moved our equipment to a different location, so now the MF6160dw is one floor down and one room over from the AR-5381u. For all intents and purposes, the MF6160dw no longer works at all. If it does, it takes forever.
Understanding that, as a router transmits and receives, so too does the MF6160dw. Will a more powerful wireless router help, given that a stronger signal from the router will do nothing to improve the signal strength coming back to it from the MF6160dw?
Thank you
