Am I going to have to restart my laptop every time I want to open a document?

I have a Pages document saved to iCloud. I was unable to open my Pages document on my MacBook Air yesterday. I restarted and things worked fine.

I left Pages open, and worked in the document this morning. I then closed Pages. I tried to open it again, and it will not open.

I am not emailing it. I save it directly to iCloud. I don't have it saved anywhere else. I have edited the document via iCloud.com, and it has always opened on my MacBook Air before.

Am I going to have to restart my laptop every time I want to open a document?
