Q: MacMini HDMI trouble

I bought a new MacMini in February 2016 and have been connecting it to my 4K HDTV via HDMI.  It often has problems recognizing the TV.  What is causing this?

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

    Try another cable.

    Does the TV have a displayport or mini displayport input? If so try that via the Mini's Thunderbolt port. It accepts a mini displayport plug for video

    I'm quite interested in your question since I have a Mac Mini and I want to use it to display on a 4K UHD TV. My questions for you are: What's the brand and model of the TV?;Are you connecting directly to the TV (or through a receiver)?
