Yes, you can use your Apple ID's interchangeably.

No, you can't.  No, there's no need to create a whole new ID.

You should change your Apple ID to another non-Apple address - a free one such as Yahoo would do - you do need it to be a functioning address since it is to there that Apple will contact you should this become necessary.

Before you do this you should sign out of iCloud on all your devices, then once it's changed, sign back in with the new ID. If you don't do this you may well find yourself in difficulties. Your synced data will disappear from your devices when you sign out but will reappear when you sign back in (give it time).
