Q: How to save iBooks to iPad 2 device?

I Have several articles and PDFs in iBooks.  I thought I was saving them to my ipad2.  I turned off cloud and they are all gone.  Turned the cloud on and they show up with ability to download.  I want to have these stored on my iPad so I can view whether or not cloud is turned on.  How do I save them?

Thanks!

    Hi DayleneS,

I understand that you are wanting to download items directly from iBooks to your iPad. I know that it can be nice to have reading material available offline, so I'm happy to provide some help with this.

Check out this article that we have on the topic:

Sync iBooks between your Mac and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

    Download books to your device

Items purchased on other devices or your Mac might appear in your library with a cloud icon in the upper-right corner. This shows that the item is available to download from iCloud, but isn't on your Mac or iOS device.

To download the item and start reading it, tap the book you want to read. The book will download and open after a few moments, depending on your connection speed.

If you don't see all of your purchased items in iBooks, check your settings.

    See your purchased books

    On your Mac

    • Click Sort By in the upper-right corner of iBooks.
    • Click "Show iCloud Books" from the bottom of the pop-up menu.

    On your iOS device

    • In iBooks 3.2 or earlier, tap Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases.
    • In iBooks 4.0 or later, tap the menu at the top of the screen (which could say All Books, Books, PDFs, or the name of one of your collections), then tap Hide iCloud Books at the bottom of the pop-up menu to turn it off.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities, cheers!

James, thank you for your response.  However, either I am not doing something correctly or this isn't the solution.

I read the article and did exactly what it said.  I know how to download the books from the cloud and when i select "Hide books from cloud" the books are still showing.  But if I go one step further and under general settings turn off cloud (either for everything or IBooks individually) the books are gone.  This leads me to believe the books are NOT stored on my IPad 2.

I understand the benefit of the cloud but want control over my items.  Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!
