Q: Help!

While I was doing some laundry, some water got in my speaker, and headphone jack. I lucky got the water removed quicky. The phone was stuck on headphone mode for a while, but I got it off of that. The sound quality sounds like it is back to normal. I do not believe there is any water damage, as in every thing works fine, including the operating system and even the speaker, but I am still concerned. Is it possible for more problems to occur, or should I be in the clear.

A Few Disclaimers: I put the phone in rice to help, I also called Apple Care (I am covered), and the LCI is not red.

It is definitely possible (probably even likely) for more problems to occur.

Visit an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center for an assessment and advice how to proceed.

Yes it is possible for more problems to occur. Water and electronics do not mix.

I suggest you make frequent backups for when the device does fail.

Water damage is not covered under Apple Care Plus, except that replacement is a deductible cost twice under the terms of Apple Care plus. After that, it is a straight out of warranty replacement cost.

Turn device off (electronics and water don't mix) and put in convection oven on dehydrate for an hour or two.

Do not, under any circumstances, put your phone in an oven!

I thank everyone for their responses to my problem. Yesterday, I went to a Apple Store to get any possible damage to my IPhone 6S Plus tested. Luckily, there appears to be no damage to the phone; however, corrosion in the circuits MAY occur over time. I do put emphasis on the word "may" because there is no for sure answer that it will or will not. It all depends on how much water was introduced and how much time it was introduced for.

The was no 'official' water damage visible. The LCI (Liquid Contact Indicator; located within the Sim Card port) was not red/pink (meaning there was not enough water damage to turn that indicator on). The man who help me put my phone through a series of audio and hardware tests, which my phone all passed. The man also had the problem I had (unofficial water damage) over three months ago, and he is not experiencing any problems with his phone. He was pretty certain that my phone will be okay.

But I do want to mention I have Apple Care for my phone, as well as my laptop. Water damage is covered under Apple Care. BUT, you have to pay for it. Instead of paying $350.00 for a new IPhone 6S Plus (covered under Apple's warranty {non Apple Care}), I would only need to pay $99.00 for a new IPhone 6S Plus. So, if my phone does start acting 'screwy' for any reason, I would only need to pay $99.00 (and possibly a $29.00 service fee) for a brand new IPhone 6S Plus.

I recommend that everyone buy Apple Care for their Apple Products, specifically for their IPhones, Apple Watches, and Macbooks. These types of products are the most likely to be damaged by the environment, malfunctions, et cetera... My mobile carrier provides a type of insurance, but it is nowhere as good as Apple Care. My carrier will make me pay $145.00, at least, for a phone (most likely refurbished), while Apple Care charges $99.00 for a phone (brand new). You get 2 accidental coverages with Apple Care, while my carrier has a bunch of stipulations to replacing my phone. With Apple Care, I can call anytime I want if I have a problem, while my carrier sends my to several different places to fix the problem. 24/7 technical support, 2 replacements, and as many repairs that Apple can personally fixed (with a $29.00 fee), all with Apple Care. Depending on the plan you want, it could cost anywhere from $99.00 to $250.00 to purchase within 60 days of purchasing the device.

Many of you know this stuff, but I wanted to clarify to anyone who does not. Thank you to the people who responded, and good luck to the people who are getting any problems fixed. Thank you.
