Sep 12, 2016 1:18 AM in response to Julian80by Winston Churchill,If they can switch on the TV, it isn't airplay they are using, if it was you could simply set an airplay password. The simplest solution for dealing with guests that won't respect your wishes in regard to the operation of your TV is to not let them have access to your network.

Sep 12, 2016 11:18 AM in response to Winston Churchillby Julian80,Thank you very much for your answer.
It is definitely AirPlay causing the issue, because of AppleTV (4th Gen.) HDMI-CEC feature... so the connected SmartTV will switch on. The password protection for AirPlay just prevents the devices from streaming content to the ATV...
Disabling AirPlay on the ATV works, but it not wanted...
I am quite sure that it is the Android causing the problem, I could replicate the problem with my beother's phone. With iPhones everything works well (no automatic activation of AirPlay, so no switching on of the TV if it does not need to).

Jules

Sep 12, 2016 12:12 PM in response to Julian80by Diana.McCall,Hi. This is a little bit mysterious. Are you able to test if one of these Android phones can actually AirPlay a video to your ATV? I suspect they cannot, because Google is not an Apple licensee. But the phones may be Bonjour-aware, and they may just be connecting to every device they find, in case one might be a printer or something else useful. Can you determine the Android version of these phones? Look under Settings for Info. And do you know if they have some Apple or other app that might be doing this?

Sep 12, 2016 12:26 PM in response to Julian80by Diana.McCall,One further thought. What if you change the name of your Apple TV to, say, Fred? I wonder if your friends have AirPlay apps configured to connect to the default Apple TV name. They might not find it by a different name.

Sep 12, 2016 12:41 PM in response to Diana.McCallby Julian80,Hi and thank you for sharing your thoughts. I will try my best to answer your questions:
- The Android phone I could replicate that is on version 6.0.1
- There are no Apple apps installed.
- If I change the name of the ATV again (I never use the standard names) it behaves the same... Unfortunately.
- It is not possible to stream anything to the ATV. When it activates, an error appears that "the device needs to run at least on iOS7.1 or above" or so...
Could that issue be caused by Google Cast, DLNA or something like that?
Have a great evening and
Best regards,
Jules

AirPlay and HDMI-CEC have no relationship.

Sep 12, 2016 4:41 PM in response to Julian80by Diana.McCall,That message regarding iOS does seem to indicate that an AirPlay connection was being attempted. It's funny that it opens a connection that it obviously cannot use. Too bad the different name doesn't fool it. Of course, with Bonjour, you can query available devices for their services with no prior knowledge. Unfortunately, I only have an Android 5 device, so cannot test.
I wonder if Bluetooth figures in this somehow. I know my Android tablet can see the ATV 4 on Bluetooth. It seems to think it's an input device since it gives me a code to enter for pairing.
I cannot see any real solution here, and it sounds like you've tried all the likely suspects.
