Q: iTunes in the Cloud/Match change of country

Hi,

I thought i would share a few details regarding changing your apple ID country when you have itunes match enabled.

I have over 22,000 song matched in the cloud, my apple ID was registered in Switzerland, I wanted to move it to Czech republic as I no longer had a payment method for Switzerland.

What needs to be done:

  1. Disable auto renewal of iTunes match
  2. Change iTunes library location to an external storage device.
  3. Create a smart playlist for a) "Location is iCloud and Location is not on this computer" b) "Location is on this computer", this allows you to easily manage what is being uploaded, and to make sure the numbers are the same when completed.
  4. Select all songs in the "Songs" list and select remove download
  5. Select all songs in the "Songs" list and select download.
  6. Depending on speed of connection and amount of songs it can take a while.
  7. On the day your itunes match expires, 1) View my account 2) change country 3) change billing address and payment method.
  8. Eventually itunes will refresh the cloud status to "Removed from iCloud", then you select all songs, and select "add to iCloud music libary"
  9. Depending on speed of connection and amount of songs it can take a while.
  10. Ensure all songs are "Matched" and there are no greyed out songs, if so try and locate them and add again.

I hope this helps, as apple support knew near to nothing about this scenario
