Q: iMovie 10.1.1 crashes while editing

Hi!

I've tried to edit my AVCHD video clips (103 clips, about 30 minutes) and iMovie keeps crashing all the time. The error message on Console is "iMovie: AVF error: Perf capability check failed: 0xe00002bc" and something like "...process iMovie caught causing excessive wakeups..."

What can I do?

I've done this kind of job with iMovie many times without crashing.

My operating system is Yosemite 10.10.5

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

This error seems to be similar to error 50 and is a rendering error. It typically indicates media corruption or it could be a transition/title corruption. Not easy to solve, you can expand the timeline and slowly scan the clips to see if anything odd shows up. Another approach is to duplicate the project, delete half of it and see if that will export. Continue to iterate this process until you find the corruption. Not fun but I haven't seen any other suggestions.

    Thank you for answering, Jim!

The crashing problem is now gone, I hope. Maybe it helped that I deleted some clips so that there are less clips now in the project.
