Q: Macbook Pro 128 GB SSD Storage

if you are storing large amounts of data it's best to use an SSD with another drive.

the SSD should contain your OS and core applications, but if you are working with smaller text documents, spreadsheets and powerpoint presentations storage on the SSD should not be much of a concern and you can use that data optimally with the speed the SSD offers over HDD.

If you are working with raw Creative Cloud files, Hi-Res Photography, Video, Audio Recording, lots of family photos or a large iTunes collection consider a second larger drive for keeping these files off your SSD.

You can install an SSD that fits, but larger size drives are replacements to whatever you put in there so you can't upgrade a 128 to "a larger capacity SSD" than what it currently is, you would need to buy a 256, or 512, or 1TB and remove your 128 from the system.

If you install Office, I recommend you to upgrade to go for 256GB or 512GB if you afford.

Mac OSX eats up about 25GB space of SSD, though.

I have a 750Gb hard disk with 500Gb of free disk space so it does not sound like the hard disk is full as yet

I am checking something else regarding disk image... not sure whether this is any relevant though...

The 128GB drive isn’t going to cause any major constraints with software. The MacOS uses about 25GB and Office about 15GB.  Most other ‘every day’ applications will be quite a bit smaller than Office. In fact, I’m something of an application packrat and my Application folder is just over 70GB. Where a 128GB SSD is going to cause issues is if you have lots of media files - digital photos, video, and music. Other documents tend to take up a small amount of space. I’m an instructor and programmer. All my source code, my curriculum files including presentations, and even archived email is just barely larger than a single Hollywood movie file.

I have a MBP with 128gb. SSD.

El Capitan only uses about 15gb. I have it loaded allot of apps.

( MS-Office, Adobe CS6 Suite, iWork suite, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, etc....And allot more apps.

I still I have 60gb. of free space left. I am only using half of the SDD.

128gb should be the minimum requirements for a MBP however if you plan on loading allot of files, music, videos, movies. Then you should go with a 250gb SSD or larger.

I also have another MBP with bootcamp loaded with dual boot of El Capitan and Windows-10 on another MBP.

It has a 500gb SSD. With two 250gb. Partitions. One for OS-X and another for MS-Windows-10.

For dual boot I recommend a 500gb. SSD or larger.

You can always plug in a USB flash drive for more storage.

For a Windows installation in BootCamp I'd recommen no sMiller than a 45 to 50 GB partition and for virtualization no smaller than 40GB. (It is lots easier to make a container drive larger than a partition.) Either way it would make more sense to get the upgrade now rather than after the fact.
