Q: If I remove messages, will software update replace it?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 El Capitan 10.11.3 (15D21)

I have had an issue with messages for a while.

I I delete Messages, will Software updates find the loss and download it?

    Hi,

If the Messages App is removed (deleted) or just moved to another Folder (even if that Folder is in the Applications Folder) then the app will not update.

That is to say that if you moved Messages and other similar apps in to a folder called "Messaging" but still kept that in the Applications Folder (like the Utilities folder is in there) then the app will not update.

If you would describe your problems with Messages, perhaps someone could provide assistance. Ralph is probably the best person to help you.
