Q: Shut down mini from UPS

I have a Cyberpower UPS. I don't know how long ago I bought it. It hasn't been a problem. It's been discontinued by Cyberpower. That particular one has software support for only Windows. Cyberpower does have UPSs that have software support for Macs & Windows but not my UPS.

When I stop using my mini, I put it to sleep. If it weren't plugged into a UPS & there's a power failure I suppose that the mini would crash, wouldn't it?

What I'm wondering about is does Apple have built-in support for shutting down a mini that's connected to the UPS so that I don't need to install software for the UPS? I have a feeling that it doesn't. So, when the time comes to replace the UPS, I'll have to get one that has software that's compatible with Macs & Windows.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
