Depends upon what type files.
You can use iCloud Drive and DropBox and other cloud services

- PhotoStream works for devices with different IDs is you give permission to share your PhotoStream with a device with another ID.
- What kind of "messages"? Mail? Apple Messages?
SInce there is no file system sharing "files) depends upon the app. Many apps interface with DropBox
