I am running 10.11.6 on an imac, when trying to enter my password after waking from sleep there is no response to keystrokes. The mouse still works so I am able to sign in as guest, log out and then when prompted to log in to existing account I can enter account ID and password and all works fine until waking from sleep again. Any help would be well appreciated.
Is it a wired or wireless keyboard?
usb wired keyboard and logitech mouse is wired through the keyboard
Unplug the mouse from the keyboard and plug it straight into a USB port on the mac. The combination may be drawing too much power.
I should mention that I have been using this setup for years without issue, is it possible that something (power draw for instance) would change suddenly?
Yes. It's possible if the mouse and/or keyboard and/or USB port are failing.
