Word 2011 on a MacBook Pro using El Capitan (v10.11.6 ) doesn't show my template.

I have my templates stored in two different locations:

Macintosh HD/User Templates/My Templates

MacintoshHD/Users/<My Login>/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates

When I click "My Templates" in Word 2011 the window is blank. My work-around is to open the template I want from one of the two locations above, but it's inconvenient not to have my templates automatically available in Word 2011. I'd appreciate any help.
