Sep 13, 2016 4:57 AM in response to Murphaldoby léonie,How are you trying to export from iPhoto? Are you exporting the originals with "File > Export > Kind: Original" or as edited versions? The error could mean, that the originals cannot be read or found, or that the destination cannot be written to.
And where are you exporting to? If you are exporting to a thumbs drive, export first to a folder on your Desktop, and then drag this folder to the thumbs drive.

I am exporting originals to an external hard drive - necessary due to limited macbook pro hard drive storage.
1005 error needs to be more precise and show what is the issue.
I have numerous 1005 errors - they are not copyable - how do I even find one of the files in iPhoto.

Sep 14, 2016 3:17 PM in response to Murphaldoby Terence Devlin,What version do you have? Try this test - If it's iPhoto 11:
Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected.
Earlier versions that's in the contextual menu - right click on the Photo
Does it?
If disk space is an issue, why trash your Library, why not just move the whole library to the external?
What should or shouldn't happen is a bit beside the point now as iPhoto hasn't been developed for more than two years and won't be changing now.
