Q: What are These Mystery Mailboxes?

I recently bought a new iMac with El Capitan loaded on it, so I had to create my emails in Mail. Setting them up was not a problem but I noticed after I created them that some folders were automatically created below them that correspond to each email address. I created the "On My Mac" folder but I was wondering if anyone could explain what the other ones are. Here's a screenshot (I blurred out my email addresses):

I'm curious because there are already Junk folders for each of my accounts.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Lloyd

These were set up with no action by you? Can you delete them? Who is your e-mail provider? Have you checked the e-mail provider's website to see if some setting there caused them?

No, I didn't create them. And it's strange because I have two different providers, one is RoadRunner and the other is through my website. I doubt both providers would have automatically created them, that's why I htink Mail must have. Plus, I don't think they're Smart Folders because they show on my iMac, iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro.

I just don't know what they're supposed to be used for, maybe if I set up SPAM rules or something, but the .ERROR one is confusing me. I was able to remove the TRIAL folder but I'm nervous to remove any others.

Those are the server folders for those things. Mail wasn't able to properly map them to the unified mailboxes.

For each, select it and choose "Use this mailbox for > " and choose the appropriate mailbox type.

For instance, the spam (and JunkMail) folder should be mapped to Junk. SentMail is the Sent folder.

I have no idea what Trial is, but possibly something the email provider wants to offer to you.
