Q: How to copy *.jpg to an empty folder
Using 10.6.8
I USB connected my (Moutrie) trail camera to my computer. I have the camera set to record both jpg and avi files. I have 500 files in the folder, 250 are jpg. I want to copy the jpg to where I have a temp folder. Being DOS trained, I don't know what to call things on a Mac, even though I've been using them for 8 years.
In Finder, under "Places" I have of course Desktop and Applications. I also have the directory structure from which I work, called "cglenn." Under this I have a temp folder. The Moutrie is listed in the "Devices" area as moutriecam.
I reading posts in this forum, the closest I came was: cp moutriecam/*.jpg ~cglenn/temp
I tried it without the tilda first. Either way, results say "no such file or directory," so I don't know if the originating or destination folders (or both) are not typed correctly.

DOS predates concepts of the GUI, so you no longer need to think DOS
A far quicker and simpler method would be click sort by kind and drag the files over to the destination directory.
