I have an unwanted app called "Advanced Mac Cleaner". I cannot delete it. It claims it has found viruses on my Mac and wants me to call their experts. How to get rid of it?

This has nothing to do with pop up ads as the other post states.

Advanced Mac Cleaner has been whats referred to as a "Potentially Unwanted Program."

The first thing I would do is download Malwarebytes at: malwarebytes.org. Allow it to scan you system. I will most likely find the program Advanced Mac Cleaner and remove it for you. If not, download a program called AppCleaner. Then drag & drop the application into the AppCleaner window, and it will remove all associated files of Advanced Mac Cleaner.

I would also go into Safari, delete your history and also clear your cache in your browsers.

Let me know if that solves your issue. If not, I'd be happy to take you through some additional steps.
